Beyond The Laces: A Celebration of Portland Sneaker Culture

Held on August 1st to close Portland’s Sneakerweek festivities, advertising and marketing giants Wieden + Kennedy put together Beyond The Laces, an interactive activation featuring some of Portland’s leading brands and businesses in the culture such as Deadstock Coffee, Index, Unspoken, Clean Your Shoes, and more.

Thousands of Portland’s sneakerheads of all ages joined us as we celebrated and highlighted the sneaker heads making changes in the trajectory of Portland and the sneaker community through art, culture, community, and calls to action with dope music, door prizes, good food, and even better drinks.

Wieden + Kennedy tapped Clean Your Shoes for a sneaker cleaning booth where we had guests come and sit in two barber shop chairs while we cleaned their sneakers on-foot, which was a first for us. As it turns out, it’s not terribly different from cleaning sneakers on-hand. We also had a small table where we set up shop to sell products such as the much-awaited suede kit and tote.

As mentioned earlier, door prizes were given by raffle. Clean Your Shoes offered our new tote, a cleaning kit bundle, and sneaker toothbrushes as a prize.

Thanks to all who stopped by, got their sneakers cleaned, and/or bought a kit! We appreciate all the support as always and look forward to providing you with more experiences like this in the near future.

Thank you to Wieden + Kennedy (especially Leah T. !!!) for allowing us to be a part of your celebration and endcap to Sneakerweek.
